When your garage door fails at the wrong time — car trapped, door stuck open in a storm, neighbour’s car blocking the only exit — emergency repair is a same-day or rapid-response call-out. We don’t promise instant 24/7 service (genuine after-hours availability in Adelaide is patchy and the operators who promise it often disappoint). What we do promise is:
- Same-day for metro suburbs if you submit by 11am business days. Most calls land a technician on-site between 1pm and 5pm.
- Next business morning for after-hours submissions and outer-suburb call-outs (Mount Barker, Aldinga, Gawler, Strathalbyn).
- Honest typical response time of 2-4 hours within the metro, not the “we’ll be there in 30 minutes” line that’s almost never true.
What counts as an emergency
- Car trapped inside. Spring snapped, motor failed, door off-track — and you can’t get the car out.
- Door stuck open. Security risk overnight, especially in storm or wind weather.
- Door fallen. A panel or cable failure that’s left the door in an unsafe partially-open position.
- Severe panel damage. Vehicle hit that’s left the door non-operable and the property exposed.
- Commercial outage. Workshop, retail, warehouse — any door whose failure is shutting down the business.
What’s not an emergency (but still gets fixed quickly)
- Remote not working. Try the wall button first; if that works, you’ve got a remote-only fault. Replace the battery, then call.
- Door noisy / squeaking. Servicing call-out, not emergency. Can be booked for the next available appointment.
- Door slow. Capacitor wear or limit-switch drift. Can be booked normally.
Pricing for emergency repairs
- Standard call-out fee: $90-$140 (waived if work proceeds).
- After-hours surcharge (where the operator is genuinely available): typically +$80-$160.
- Spring replacement on emergency: same as scheduled — $220-$480 for the work itself.
- Off-track repair on emergency: $260-$520.
The spring or motor part itself doesn’t cost more on an emergency call-out — only the call-out and labour rate adjustments apply.
Securing the property if you can’t get a same-day visit
If you genuinely can’t get a technician to you tonight (rare in metro Adelaide, more common in outer suburbs):
- Door stuck open: lock the internal door from the garage to the house. Move the car to a secure location if possible. Bring high-value items into the house.
- Door stuck closed: if your only car is trapped inside, most insurance will cover an emergency callout. If you have a garage-side door, walk through and don’t operate the main door until the technician arrives.
